Biography
John was born and raised in Montreal. He attended both Concordia and McGill university graduating with a degree in Political Science and diploma in Education. He also took post graduate courses in Community and the Law and Urban Geography.
John met Maria while at McGill, married and two years later moved out to Fort McMurray. In July 2010, they celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary.
John has taught 30 years with the Catholic School Board at Father Turcotte and St Paul's school. During that time, John has volunteered with Keyano theatre, the Public library and the Volunteer Action board. He has also devoted time to the local and provincial Alberta Teacher's Association.
John served briefly on Council in 1997-98 and has been re-elected again in 2001, 2004 and 2007. In 2008 he was appointed to the Fort McMurray Regional Airport Commission and Airport Development Committee.
John and Maria have two daughters, Sarah and Kishanda. Sarah is married to Scott and both are teachers. Kishanda is presently completing her masters degree in Microbiology & Immunology.
